The Heart Behind Alfie

Welcome to The Alfie Collective
Stories that connect us. Voices that move us. A collective that holds us.

I’m Ila-Rose Alfie Robinson, an activist, journalist, student, and proud daughter of Jamaican parents who taught me the power of resilience and voice. My grandfather on my father’s side was named Alfred, a man whose quiet strength and enduring spirit still guide my family today. Because my mom got to choose my first name, my dad chose my middle name — Alfie, after his father.

Growing up, I’ll admit I hated it. It wasn’t the “normal” name you heard in an elementary school classroom, and out of ignorance, I didn’t yet understand the beauty in it. But as I got older, I realized that Alfie wasn’t just a name — it was a legacy. A reminder of where I come from, of the stories and sacrifices that shaped me, and of the voices that too often go unheard.

So when I created this space — The Alfie Collective — I wanted it to honor that legacy. To give others what my grandfather gave my father, and what my parents gave me: a voice, a platform, and a place to be seen.

This is more than a conversation series. It’s a movement of empathy, truth, and connection. A space where real stories and real moments meet — where laughter and pain coexist, and where every voice matters.
